[5:30 PM] We’ll be leaving the EVEN Hotel lobby and heading on foot to The August Wilson African American Cultural Center.

Welcome and Tour The August Wilson African American Cultural Center, one of the largest cultural organizations in the country focused exclusively on the African American experience and the arts of the African diaspora.

Oh and if you haven’t watched the movie Fences based off August Wilson’s masterpiece, now would be a good time!

Settling in

Taste of the Strip District, Pittsburgh’s ‘Foodie Heaven’. Explore this one-half square mile district and discover a haven of ethnic grocers, produce stands, meat and fish markets and sidewalk vendors.

We’ll have a kick off dinner and hang provided by Bar Marco, Penn Fish, Lucy Banh Mi, and S&D Polish Deli.

Friday (9.16)

Rise and Shine

Join us on a walk across the historic Andy Warhol bridge for our kick-off at Allegheny Landing park. We’ll have a movement and a sound bath sesh ready to get you set for the day.

We’ll be touring the Warhol Museum, plus an interactive preview of the Pop District, a $60 million dollar expansion developed by the museum, transforming the surrounding neighborhood into a cultural hub drawing on the Pop artist’s legacy.

It's time for your first small group of the weekend led by your two captains, local and national Breakers. We'll be walking nearby to the Children's Museum to take advantage of their MuseumLab space, housed in the first ever public Carnegie Library.

Lunch break! Just across the plaza is Federal Galley, a rotating food hall featuring up and coming food concepts to refuel and give you some informal hang time.

Innovation Tours across town, which include conversations at Carnegie Mellon BioRobotics lab with Dr. Howie Choset, exploration of the Astrobotics Moonshot Space Museum w/ behind the scenes moon rover exploration, and an interactive mural tour detailing the immigrant worker journey in Pittsburgh of the early 1900's including the Maxo Vanka Murals.

Noted local artist Cory Bonnet, known for using salvaged and reclaimed materials from factories and historical buildings will play host for a one of a kind dinner by Chef Claudy Pierre in his private studio at the Energy Innovation Center.

Morning Kick off with breakfast in Homewood showcasing the Black Urban Gardeners and Farmers of Pittsburgh Co-Op (BUGFPC), the Oasis Farm & Fishery, and the weekly community Farmers market. We’ll be hearing from Oasis farm manager Tacumba Turner, BUGFPC’s Raqueeb Bey , local activist Amber Sloan, plus exploring the general food justice ecosystem.

We’ll be hosted by 1Hood Media and founder Jasiri X, who will debut their new interactive theater along with showcasing the rising art and justice stars of ‘the Burgh.

A Walk Down History Lane

Lunch @ the August Wilson House, the great artist’s childhood home, and Hill District arts center—a tribute to his legacy. Here we’ll break off for our 2nd Breakout Small Group moments.

Head downtown with the founders of Emerald City, a culturally empowered, community-centered co-working and event space dedicated to entrepreneurs, and creatives.

Join us as we explore and reimagine the creative economy through Pittsburgh’s very own, BLAQK House Collective, a Art Gallery & Multi-Space.

[7:00 PM] Meet in the lobby to depart for dinner at 7:00 PM sharp! We will be breaking into our small groups in 4 locations. Directions will be in our signal groups + attendees will be provided Uber ride codes for each group to use.

You’ll be in your small groups for dinner and hosted by some of our favorite Pittsburgh leaders in their homes and spaces for a special intimate final dining experience.

HOUSE PARTY. We are fortunate to have been able to hitch our wagons to what many locals call the greatest end of summer party in ‘the Burgh. Hosted by Ray and Fantasy Zellars with views looking out over the city, the movers and shakers of impact, culture, and entrepreneurship of the city will all be in attendance.

A Proper Send Off

It’s always tough to say goodbye but we’ll have a closing brunch along with our final small group sessions to ground on all that happened this weekend at Carmi Soul Food Restaurant.

*For those who will be sticking around, it is the opening weekend of the Steelers. Nothing brings together the city like the Steelers so for those sticking around, we will be joining a local tailgate and come join us as long as you can.
